In need of some beauty tips to keep your skin glowing for the winter? Read our Skin Expert Rosa Barahona’s tips for maintaining healthy skin during the cold months.
Moisturizing is a vital element of any successful winter beauty regiment. This should include your entire body, from feet, knees and elbow to face and lips. Moisturizing should begin in the shower and be reapplied throughout the day. Use a creamy facial cream when washing your face and wear a moisturizing facial mask overnight. For your lips, use a moisturizing lip balm with sunscreen and vitamin E.
Exfoliating will get rid of dead cells and permit your skin to absorb the extra moisture your skin needs in the winter. Exfoliating should be done at least twice a week in order to maximize its benefits.
3. Cold Showers
Hydrotherapy can increase the blood flow throughout your body and rejuvenate your skin. Begin with a warm shower and then turn the water down to a cold temperature for 15 seconds. Turn the water back to a warm temperature and then down again to a cold one – and repeat the process for approximately two minutes.
4. Cotton and Synthetic Fabrics
It is important to wear fabrics that are good for your skin. Wool can cause dry and itchy skin, and nylon and leather don’t allow your skin to breath and can be irritating. The best fabrics to keep your skin fresh and healthy during the winter are cotton, polyester and polypropylene.
